ARCHITECTURE OF THE BUILDINGS
One of the reasons I like living in Wicker Park is because I love the architecture of some of the buildings. They’re probably the most beautiful Chicagoland homes. They have a gothic, almost neo-victorian look to them, though I have no idea if that’s how old they are or if those are even the right eras to describe how they look. That’s how they look to me. They’re building with pointed, coned tops for the most part. I think of wicked witches and New Salem and all the witch trials from back in the day whenever I see these buildings. Of course none of that took place in Chicago. I’d have to check the history books, but I don’t even know if there was a city of Chicago standing there when all that took place and that was all on the east coast anyway. I think the Native Americans were still roaming around back then around these parts. “Chicago” is a Native American word anyway. It means skunk or smelly swamp, something like that. I’m just rambling now though, but I tend to do that. Even when no one is listening. Well, I myself am listening, but that’s not the same.
