ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH
When I attended Columbia College Chicago, I didn’t need a South Loop Chicago neighborhood directory to get around. The Columbia College Chicago campus is spread over 17 different buildings all over the neighborhood. They are actually the biggest landowners in the South Loop neighborhood. (If you are curious, the Roman Catholic Church is the biggest landowner in the world.) So by wandering around their campus, I learned my way around the South Loop. By riding the train back and forth through the Loop every day, I learned my way around the city. I took the blue line train. So long as I know where one of the streets that the train stops at is I can find my way around pretty easily. It also helps knowing where the lake is. I’ve actually walked back and forth from Columbia College to City Hall a few times. I just took Michigan Avenue all the way. I should say South Michigan Avenue since the Magnificent Mile with all its shops and such is further north. I actually used to have a job close to the Magnificent Mile and used to walk around it every day on my lunch break. That’s how I learned my way around there too.
