THE CHAUFFER

Eventually, I’m going to get tired of carting Nick around all the time.  He should just go and get himself a driver’s license even if he doesn’t have the money to buy a car.  He lives in the Rogers Park Chicago neighborhood at the far, far northern tip of the city.  Needless to say, there’s nothing up in Roger’s Park.  So when we go out and so something, whether it’s going to see a movie or a concert or heading out for a few beers, I’m always driving up into Rogers Park, picking him up, driving us to where ever we’re going, and then driving him all the way back when we’re done.  I like Nick a lot and have known him for years.  We have a lot in common and I find him easy to talk to.  Still, it gets annoying when you’re always someone else’s chauffer.  I also end up having to spend some cash on Nick all the time since he never has any.  He has a job, not a well-paying one, but a job nonetheless.  So I don’t really know how he never has any money on him.  What bills does he have from living with his parents and not owning a car?  There’s his cell phone, but what else?
